Overview & Onboarding

4
01What is Alnu Health and what does the app do?

A clinically-designed digital health companion that helps people on weight management journeys stay on schedule, get personalized nutrition tips, and share progress with their care team. The health coach gives real-time answers to patient questions and concerns from evidence-based information provided by obesity and cardiometabolic clinicians. The coach translates comprehensive research and medical guidelines into accessible, feasible, and sustainable recommendations, meeting individual patients where they are.

02How do I sign up or accept an invitation to the app?

Patients get an invite from their clinic. Tap the invite link, add the clinic code if prompted, follow the steps to create an account, and complete the quick intake survey to start your journey.

03What do I need to complete during onboarding?

You have the option to fill out an intake survey (medication, allergies, baseline side effects, existing health conditions, food preferences, etc.) and select personal goals. This survey is optional, but if you choose to fill it out, Alnu has enhanced ability to use the information to give personalized feedback and evolve with you throughout your journey!

04What tracking method is used in the app?

The app supports voice, photo, text, and food product barcode scanning, to capture meals, side effects, etc., using your preferred method(s) for enhanced convenience.

Activity

5
01Does Alnu Health connect with wearables?

Yes. Alnu Health connects through Apple HealthKit, which can sync with Apple Watch, Whoop, Oura Ring, Garmin Watch, and any other device connected to Apple HealthKit.

02What are Alnu Achievements?

Alnu Achievements are badges you earn as you make progress in your health journey. They help celebrate milestones, consistency, and meaningful wins along the way.

03What if I don’t have a wearable? Can I log activity?

Yes. Even if you don’t have a wearable, you can manually log your activity in Alnu Health so your progress still counts.

04What are streaks?

Streaks track how consistently you complete healthy actions over time. They are designed to help you build momentum, stay motivated, and celebrate your consistency.

05What if I do activity but forget to wear my wearable device?

No problem. You can manually log the activity in Alnu Health, and it will be added to your total activity for that day so it still counts toward your progress, achievements, and streaks.

Coach

3
01What is the Alnu “Coach” and how do I use it?

The Coach is a supportive, clinically backed digital chat that answers questions, gives tips and delivers tailored recommendations (for example, advice on nausea or a missed dose). You can ask questions via text or voice about your day-to-day care, including food and nutrition, movement, and more!

02I have an allergy and/or food intolerance. Will the Coach know that?

Yes, if you tell Alnu about allergies or intolerances in the intake or in your profile, the Alnu Coach will use that information when giving food and meal guidance. (You can add or update this info in your Profile and initial intake survey so your nutrition advice reflects your needs.)

03Does the Alnu Coach give general responses or personalize it for me?

The Alnu Coach provides personalized guidance. It provides clinically backed support by using your intake survey, goals and real-world behavior to customize lifestyle feedback while remaining non-directive and deferring medical decisions to your clinician. The Coach also uses context where appropriate so answers reflect what you’ve told the app.

Journey

5
01What do I use the Journey section of the app for?

Journey shows your progress, non-scale victories, and graphs. For medical weight management patients, it also displays medication schedule, injection logs, side effect reports, and progress over time. Use it to follow your dosing plan, record injections and symptoms, and see how your treatment and symptoms evolve.

02What are non-scale victories?

Non-scale victories are meaningful signs of health progress that go beyond the number on the scale, such as improved energy, better sleep, increased mobility, stronger confidence, better lab results, or more consistent healthy habits. At Alnu, we use them to help members recognize progress throughout their care journey, even when weight changes are gradual or fluctuate.

Think of this section like your personal journal of accomplishments!

03How do I set up medication reminders and my dosing schedule?

The app shows your medication schedule and lets you turn on reminders (if desired) so you stay consistent with your dosing. You can see your first-month schedule and daily dosing information in the Journey view. If your dosing schedule changes, then you can adjust the frequency or medication, as needed.

04How do I log injections and check my injection technique?

Use the Journey or injection log to record each injection and view injection-technique guidance from the Alnu Coach so you can follow your healthcare provider’s instructions.

05How can I view my progress, trends, and monthly summaries?

The ‘Journey’ views show daily snapshots, progress trends and monthly summaries so you and your clinician can track outcomes over time.

Nutrition

3
01How do I log meals or get nutrition guidance?

Complete the nutrition baseline and then use meal logging (text/photo/scan/voice options) to get personalized, credible nutrition guidance, meal suggestions and grocery ideas that align to you needs, preferences, and your medication effects.

02Can I adjust my calories/macros?

Yes, the app supports calorie and macro tracking and lets you set or update targets. Goals and targets are set at onboarding using recommended nutrient calculations from Registered Dietitians and can be changed later in your profile or goals area so coaching and feedback stay aligned with your current targets.

03Does my target carb goal represent total carbs or net carbs?

The established target carb goal represents Net Carbs, which equals total carbs minus fiber. Fiber has a separate category since it’s a high priority nutrient.

Profile & Medical

6
01What can I find in the Profile section of the app?

It’s also the place to update allergies, goals, and other details the Coach and app use to personalize guidance.

02How do I set or change my personal goals?

04Is Alnu a replacement for my doctor or clinician?

05What conditions does Alnu support?

Alnu is built to support patients experiencing obesity and similar journeys, helping with nutrition and behavior change for weight management and related goals and medication schedules, side effect management for those medical weight management patients. It’s a coaching and monitoring tool that complements your treatment plan.
